November 4, 2020 by admin

Contrary to the belief of many, branding is more than a logo. It increases the value of a company and makes acquiring new clients easier. Only a few photographers focus on photography branding. Those who do sometimes commit branding mistakes. It is crucial to be aware of these mistakes to avoid them.

Lack of new content

Not everyone knows you are shooting new clients every week. You have to update your channels with new content to keep people interested and aware. People might think you are not shooting anymore if you made the last post on your site over months ago. This might make clients hesitant to reach out and you will end up losing a client. Staying active online is crucial if you want to keep relevant in the field.

Quantity over quality

It is not a great idea to share all images from each of your shoots. Your portfolio should contain a few chosen photos. Clients usually do not want to browse through hundreds of photos with the same content. Show prospective clients the best of the best. The least attractive photo on your portfolio should be something you can be proud of at all costs.

Delayed responses

One of the top things you should focus on is client communication. Some photographers take several days to respond to a message from a potential client. That action sends the impression that you are inattentive or unavailable. You should be ready to answer clients on time. A response should take no longer than twenty-four hours. Although a quick response is great, make sure you respond with care. There should be no typos and your responses should not be too relaxed. Be a professional even when responding to messages.

Brand disconnect

Your portfolio should show your professional and personal styles. A potential client should be able to get the kind of imagery you shoot. It should present a narrative of who you are as a photographer and as a person. Your branding should support, enhance, and sync with the photography style you produce. Shooting light, airy, and romantic photos do not go well with a dark and heavy logo. It can confuse clients. A logo is crucial for brand recognition.
